If it was up to us, all the best design in the world would be posted within the Parfois Portfolio… But… its not up to us. Stumbling the web we often bump into things worth sharing. The world wide web is so full off great things that will never end up in our portfolio, but which we want the world to see. For this we created our blog. At this moment there 4 of us blogging on a regular basis.Work, studies and social life makes that there are weeks with a lot of posts, and weeks without. But we’ll do our best in bringing you the nicest shit on a acceptable basis.

We have a pool table at work, we can play ping pong and table soccer with the kids, but it is nothing compared to the new office Google opened in Zurich. Li Wei

I posted some work from 2009 & 2008 of the chinese artist Li Wei from Beijing who started off his performance series ‘Mirroring’ and later on took off attention with his ‘Falls’ series which shows the artist with his head and chest embedded into the ground. His work is a mixture of performance art and photography that creates illusions of a sometimes dangerous reality. Li Wei states that these images are not computer montages and works with the help of props such as mirror, metal wires, scaffolding and acrobatics. >> Read more

Stewart Smith is an artist-programmer in New York City. Stewdio has had the pleasure of working with¬†O¬†R¬†G,Diller Scofidio + Renfro,¬†We Have Photoshop,¬†2×4,Warning Office, and more.

He has written some great and fun applications, such as Browser pong.

Browser Pong is a traditional Pong game played not in a browser window, but with browser windows.

If you look around you see them everywhere, the colorful Nike shoes. Since some time Nike lets you customize and design your own sneakers. You start with 2 models from which you choose one, in the next step you can customize colors, material, labels etc. The combinations aren’t unlimited, but if you wan’t to be notable these are the shoes to wear.

Antwerp Astronauts, first exhibition

Bram Kinsbergen and two members of Parfois, Pieterjan & Jonas, started a new collective. Under the name of the ‘Antwerp Astronauts‘ they combine their powers “¬†to search the galaxy¬†for unanswered questions about the concepts of design and art.” Their first exhibition starts next Tuesday at the Rivierenhof in Antwerp, where they will be showing painting, drawings, furniture and some installations. For those who ¬†can’t make it, we’ll put some pictures and updates online soon!

This piece of furniture immediately got my attention wile it was on the cover of the January issue of Wallpaper*. The bookshelf is made by the Oslo based designer Bjorn Jorund Blikstad. The colorful parts will decorate any wall. I’ve looked around for more information about the designer, but couldn’t find any.
