Google recruits from the best¬†universities in the US and Europe and now has 12 engineering offices around Europe. At each location the develop different parts of the Google applications lineup. For example, in Israel, engineers have designed Google Trends, a feature that offers users a way to analyse and compare various search terms. In Poland engineers are working to improve the relevancy of search. And in Denmark they are developing virtual machines to improve the speed of applications. Engineers work in small teams of three or four, which is reflected at the Zurich HQ, with small offices, each of which comes¬†with the requiste ‘bean bag’¬†meeting¬†room.

One other thing that’s really “Google” are the whiteboards that are hanging around everywhere. So if you have¬†an idea, you can write it down wherever its pops you brain.
