About Parfois

If it was up to us, all the best design in the world would be posted within the Parfois Portfolio. But it's not up to us. Stumbling the web we often bump into things worth sharing. The world wide web is so full off great things that will never end up in our portfolio, but which we want the world to see. For this we created our blog. At this moment there are 4 of us blogging on a regular basis. Work, studies and social life makes that there are weeks with a lot of posts, and weeks without. But we'll do our best in bringing you the nicest shit on a acceptable basis.

Jan Drik: Life as it is

11.01.10

As a child I owned a remote controlled car! ¬†not just a remote controlled car, but one I had to build myself. It was way to expensive for a 10 year old, and at this day I still believe it went 60 km/u, blazing fast… But the car got old and my interests in remote controlled cars disappeared. Today I came across the website of the Dutch photographer Jan Dirk Van Der Burg, he has some beautiful series with one thing in common. They are all about life as it is. Read on for more pictures and text.

The shoot that graphed my attention the moment I saw it was the one about model construction. The way he shows this world is just amazing, no special effects no nothing, just people doing something they love. Something that controls their life. Its strange to see some 40+ guys with remote controlled cars, boats and plains, playing like a bunch of kids. But if you look closer they don’t play a game, it is bloody serious for them. Its there life and they live it with blood sweat and tears. Enjoy this selection of images and don’t forget to check out Jan Dirk’s website for more “life as it is” images.
