About Parfois

If it was up to us, all the best design in the world would be posted within the Parfois Portfolio. But it's not up to us. Stumbling the web we often bump into things worth sharing. The world wide web is so full off great things that will never end up in our portfolio, but which we want the world to see. For this we created our blog. At this moment there are 4 of us blogging on a regular basis. Work, studies and social life makes that there are weeks with a lot of posts, and weeks without. But we'll do our best in bringing you the nicest shit on a acceptable basis.

Inkquencer

I know, another movie, but I think it’s a real nice project, watch it!

Inkquencer is an interaction design project by danish designer sebastian ronde thielke, which plays music based on a computer’s camera input. To interact with the project, users draw shapes and patterns on pieces of paper and hold them up to the camera on a computer. The computer captures an image of the drawing and compresses it into a 32×30 pixel version. The computer then plays the image, making a sound for each black pixel. The system can be applied to a drawing randomly or can be ‘played’ by uses with basic knowledge of the inkquencer’s process. Coming from a music background, ronde thielke wanted to find ways of bringing music sequencing into the physical world to allow for ‘a more direct tangible way of experimenting with sound and rhythm.’
