A great series by Argentinian photographer Irina Werning. Back to the future presents remakes of  old pictures next to its original. Really interesting to see how people change, get older or are still so similar to the day the picture was taken. And who knows maybe in 10 years a 3rd photo completes the series. Doug Dubois is an Amerikan Photographer born in 1960 in Michigan. His works are exhibited all over the world, from the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the PARCO Gallery in Tokio to the Getty Museum in LA. His latest series ‘Family photo’s’ feature every day moments and recognizable sceneries. Beautiful vibrant colors mark his work, a small sense of melancholy and a perfect eye for the ‘every day life’ details. Some wonderful pictures at read more.

Slinkachu has some new pictures out on his blog. Here’s what he said:

“I got back from Fame Festival in Southern Italy last week, after spending a few days making installations around the city. I made six in all, including a few that used miniature speakers and mp3 players to add sound. The one above had a speaker hidden in the drain that played sounds of screaming kids and splashing.”

In the small city of Volos, in Greece, there is the school of architecture that every now and then organises nice exhibitions. Situated in an old building in the harbor and curated by Giorgis Gerolympos, “Camera architectura” is an exhibition of photography. Participants are students from the school. I met Bram De Ceurt a couple of weeks ago by one of the very newest ways to meet people… facebook… Maybe not the best way and I prefer a pub or a party to meet people but the point is that we met. I had a look at his website www.bramdeceurt.be He is photographer and painter and searches with both media for the erotic aspect of life.

I saw the work of Steve Locatelli for the first time a month ago at Artspace Leguit in Antwerp. For me, his artworks blew the work of other artists at that expo away. German artist Thomas Wrede‘s photorealistic representation combines the natural beauty of landscapes with constructed miniature models.

Its a long time ago since my last post, but i’ve been very busy with some other things. It feels good to be back. At least for now. My first post after the break is about the “The ruins of Detroit” series of photographers Yves Marchand and Romain Meffre. I came across there work at MICK! and I was stunned. I don’t think a need a lot of words to describe the feelings I had, seeing these pictures for the first time. The ruins of Detroit

At the beginning of the 20th Century, the city of Detroit
developed rapidly thanks to the automobile industry.

Until the 50′s, its population rose to almost 2 million people.
Detroit was the 4th most important city in the United States.

It was the dazzling symbol of the American Dream City with
its monumental skyscrapers and fancy neighborhoods.

Increasing segregation and deindustrialization caused violent riots in 1967.
The white middle-class exodus from the city accelerated and the suburbs grew.
Firms and factories began to close or move to lower-wage states.
Slowly, but inexorably downtown high-rise buildings emptied.

Since the 50′s, “Motor City” lost more than half of its population.

Nowadays, its splendid decaying monuments are, no less than the Pyramids of Egypt,
the Coliseum of Rome, or the Acropolis in Athens, remnants of the passing of a great civilization.
