If it was up to us, all the best design in the world would be posted within the Parfois Portfolio… But… its not up to us. Stumbling the web we often bump into things worth sharing. The world wide web is so full off great things that will never end up in our portfolio, but which we want the world to see. For this we created our blog. At this moment there 4 of us blogging on a regular basis.Work, studies and social life makes that there are weeks with a lot of posts, and weeks without. But we’ll do our best in bringing you the nicest shit on a acceptable basis.
Parfois, changing the blogosphere one post at a time
Don’t like all the things shown in this movie, but some are really worth watching. The cloud-machine by Daniel Schulze ‘takes my breath away’.
Young talented designers and students were the focus of this years DMY Youngsters exhibition. Many of the works were quite experimental or research driven resulting in interesting ideas and shapes for these new makers.
Frederik Roijé was born in the eastern part of the Netherlands. After graduating at the Design Academy in Eindhoven, he started his own design studio based in Amsterdam: a studio specialized in interior and product design, where concept and renewal are main points.
During the DMY in Berlin, Frederik Roijé presents his latest project Breed Retreat. An architectural hen house to breed and retreat. ‘To eliminate the estrangement from our origin, respecting nature will be necessary. ‘Paper Task Light’ is lamp design in durapulp and made in collaboration between swedish architectural practice claesson koivisto rune, swedish lighting company wästberg, and forestry group södra.
This year at milan design week 2010, mårten claesson, eero koivisto and ola rune of claesson koivisto rune office have once again developed a functional item out of the material ‘durapulp’, a biodegradable plastic based on maize starch. Aside from being durable and waterproof, this material is also fully compostable. While historically paper has been used primarily in lamp shades, ‘paper task light’ integrates the use of paper as the actual structure of the lamp with added LED technology. >> Read more
The lamps consist of an accordingly bent alucubond body, in which the LED modules are planar embedded. The aluminium plays a major part in the thermal management by transporting the heat to the ambience. >> Read more
Parfois, up and running again. Amen! Let’s start of with this great project from Fabian Nehne (German) & Martin Meier (Swiss). The German and Swiss productdesigners Fabian Nehne and Martin Meier recently finished this pendant light, a consequent translation of the additive colour mixing into an adequate luminaire. Martin Meier is currently working as a seniour designer lead at IDEO Munich, Fabian Nehne is senior designer at Deutsche Telekom.
These still are renders, but I think it’s a nice interpretation of this well known colour system. >> Read more

Mathieu Lehanneur is a fantastic designer, inventor,.. and lots more. His work varies from interior designs to pils and robots. His designs are functional and flawless a great merge between aesthetics and concept. In this post I’ve tried to compile his most famous designs. On the first look they probably don’t say anything, on his website u can find the explanations. But maybe u can find it out by just looking at the visual images themselves.
They look like huge installations, but in fact there just large scale photographs of installations in fantasy exhibition spaces. Pseudo Documentation are a serie of photographs made by David DiMichele, he creates this work by first building scale models of exhibition spaces, and producing original artworks in drawing, painting and sculpture mediums. He puts his artworks into the scaled exhibition spaces and then photographs them to create the final artwork. From my opinion it would be extremely nice to walk true his installations, thats why I think its a pity their just photographs. Read on to see David DiMichele’s other “installations”.
