If it was up to us, all the best design in the world would be posted within the Parfois Portfolio. But it's not up to us. Stumbling the web we often bump into things worth sharing. The world wide web is so full off great things that will never end up in our portfolio, but which we want the world to see. For this we created our blog. At this moment there are 4 of us blogging on a regular basis. Work, studies and social life makes that there are weeks with a lot of posts, and weeks without. But we'll do our best in bringing you the nicest shit on a acceptable basis.

LINK creates a temporary physical connection between the Fontainas square and the Fontainas park, which forms the only public green space in this North-South axis in the centre of Brussels, Belgium. LINK aims to launch a debate on a potential redefinition of this urban site.

The use of scaffolding for its material refers to public works, and aims to trigger all sorts of associations to this material: change, evolution, restoration, starting of larger works, the beginning of something new… Locals and passerby are in this way involved and mobilized for the possible change that LINK aims to bring in.

LINK is the Brussels/Belgian contribution to the European project Green Days which takes place this summer in four European cities and focuses on the relationship between urban and natural environment, and runs from August 12 to October 14, 2011.

Green Days in Belgium is organised by the non-profit association AAA.

LINK is designed by Wouter De Raeve, partner of Dees & Lepage Landscape Architecture Bureau, and is supported by the European Cultural Foundation (ECF).

Finally

I am proud to present you the new lamp me and three friends made with our new collective named: Stal

the lamp “eliz” forms a contrast between the elegant base and the large felt hood that seems to float above it. This adjustable lamp creates an intimate space and ensures a pleasant light zone and can be used in living room, waiting rooms, restaurants or as event furniture. the frame structure consists of birch plywood and is supported by a thin metal base. the synthetic felt can be replaced by veneer or a plexiglass cover for outdoor use. this creation is the result of a collaboration between four young furniture designers who studied in mechelen: len de paepe, bob segers, tim vranken and jonas blondeel. contact us at info@stalcollectief.com

Rome is the latest result from a collaboration between Aaron Koblin and Mr.doob. They partnered up with the people from Google Chrome, North Kingdom, Radical Media, Mirada and Oddball Animation to create a music for the song ‘Black’ on Danger Mouse & Daniel Luppi’s new album called Rome.

The movie starts of with plane video footage, nicely shot, but nothing new. Once you fall asleep, you enter a 3D dream world where you are in control of what you see and how you change the environment. From changing a city into a green environment, to letting dark bulls and spiders run through a vast and open landscape, the animation is mesmerizing, jaw dropping and intensely inspirational.
And if that is not enough, the film ends in an open landscape where you can add your own pieces of artwork. When the films ends, you can enter the editor and add new objects in a similar style as Mindcraft. Your object will be added in the sky or on the surface of the last landscape where you and your birds will fly over.

Rome is one of the first good examples of what interactive experiences without Flash look like. It is mostly build in WebGL, a component that works inside HTML5′s canvas element and which enables hardware-accelerated 3D graphics. Apart from using this technology to its fullest, it uses Three.js for 3D generation and reflection and Processing.js as a simpler language to control the graphics. These are all open standards, which you can use yourself. Check out their Tech-page to learn more.

The film may not work in most browsers, nor on many computer, but it promises and exciting future for animation and rich interactive experiences on the web. For me it’s both an example and an inspiration for what is possible. And I hope many agree.

Cash for trash is a stylish design and vintage market. It is a place to discover young and inventive designers, where second-hand trophies will be sold, there while excellent sound amuses you trying on fashionable clothes and drink your coffee at leisure. All in all, Cash For Trash is a trend-setting event. With Cash For Trash, a market place has been created where way-out ideas can find a presentation and talented designers, local shop holders, and artists can show and sell their special products. With a careful selection procedure of the presenters and sellers, we always guarantee attractive offers in the three areas of second-hand, vintage and design. Each exhibitor is presenting his or her special assortment and therefore contributes to the many-sidedness of this exquisite flea marked. We consciously promote young designers and small fashion labels by offering them a platform to show their creations and enter into contact with their potential
